Google twins will let users create images of humans with artificial intelligence after ‘wake’ botch featuring black Nazis

Google twins will let users create images of humans with artificial intelligence after 'wake' botch featuring black Nazis

Google relaunched its Gemini artificial intelligence software after its text-to-image tool drew condemnation for creating fake depictions of black Nazis, female popes and “different” versions of America’s Founding Fathers.

The Alphabet-owned tech giant announced on Wednesday that an early access version of the image generation feature will be available to users of subscription-based services such as Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise “over the coming days “.

Google said it has “enhanced our creative image generation capabilities,” which will be demonstrated in its Imagen 3, which “sets a new standard for image quality by generating images with just a few words.”

“We’ve been working to make technical improvements to the product, as well as improved assessment groups, red team exercises and clear product principles,” the company said in a blog post, warning that “not every image that Gemini creates it will be perfect, but we will continue to listen to feedback from early adopters as we continue to improve.”

In February, Google, which announced its Gemini chatbot as a worthy rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, was criticized for the “absurdly clever” images that were generated by the program.

People who placed orders for representative photos of Catholic popes saw images of Southeast Asian women and black men wearing papal robes.

Another query for images of “Founding Fathers in 1789” generated photos of a different group of men signing what appeared to be the US Constitution.

Another showed a black man posing as George Washington, wearing a white wig and wearing an army uniform.

In May, Google suffered another public relations headache when its AI Overviews software returned inaccurate and dangerous search answers that encouraged users to eat rocks for food.

The software previously produced inaccurate photos, including of female NHL players. Google Gemini

In one case, AI Overviews claimed that former US President Andrew Johnson, who died in 1875, had received 14 degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including one as recently as 2012.

Johnson never attended school.

Last month, Google came under fire again after its Autocomplete feature in its search toolbar failed to produce results about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Google Gemini also produced disturbing responses that circulated online. Google Gemini

Google isn’t the only tech giant to come under fire for flaws in its AI systems.

Meta, the parent company of social media networks Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, sparked outrage after its AI-powered chatbot thought the assassination attempt on Trump was “fictitious”.
